The Comfort Zone

Saturday, October 4th: 10am-5pm

Many people say we need to get out of our comfort zone if we want to grow -- like the comfort zone is a stuck place. But what if instead, we want to get in the comfort zone, because that zone can be a good option for growing?

Join Ethan Cowan and Joanna Rotkin for a weekend retreat about getting more familiar -- giddy even -- about following the path of least resistance in our movement and our stillness. In this workshop we braid two movement forms built around effortlessness and ease. We explore and drop into the effervescent  states these two forms create ground for, in our bodies and our breath. We also explore the paradox of how/why it can be uncomfortable getting comfortable, and how/why it can be unpleasant when accessing our own pleasure (hint hint: getting in our own way, expectations, “the shoulds,” the right way vs. the wrong way, etc., etc.).

Our work together will combine Feldenkrais Lessons and The Sky Inside, leading us into into a slow and quiet spiraling into the depths of ourselves. Through sustained engagement with our movement, our stillness, and our own inclinations, the wholeness of who we are, exactly as we are, has the opportunity to make itself more proudly known. We’ll be watching for the moments and the glimpses, when the intuitive mind and the imaginative body are working in tandem, because that is when the world opens wide, to infinite possibility and wonder.

Potential outcomes include:

Creating more attunement and access to our already right there comfort zones

Growing the ability to bring your own comfort zone wherever we go

Expanding capacity for what is uncomfortable, and finding ease and breath there too.

Being part of a community of seekers and dreamers, who value wonder and imagination, just like you (and also completely differently than you which is what makes it all so juicy)

Investment Options:

Early Bird if paid by Sept 15th:

Sliding Scale: $125-$175

After Sept 15t:

$155-$205

As above, we will mountain retreat right outside of Boulder, in Jamestown, CO.

Also as above, this is a bring your own lunch retreat.
